The next chapter ( My version )

Waking up in the morning. Smoke in the air, bodies lying on the ground, houses and library bombed. Little bits of the paper fluttering in the air, everyone putting there hands up high catching them and holding them close to their chest, wondering what to do now…

Dad and I were at home, we heard about the bombing. We were both worried and afraid, hoping this was a joke. Hearing people cry and screaming for help while we pack our stuff. I felt scared because Dad was already sick and I feel this will be my last time with him. He was holding an iron box, a thick cloth and a book. He put the book in the box and wrapped the thick cloth around it. We fleed the village with the others as the bombers bombed every bit. Leaving broken houses, bodies and burning trees.

We were walking for miles. Dad started coughing uncontrollably. Worried I grabbed water
out of my bag and gave it to him. We walked up to a near by village that wasn’t very
welcoming and mean. As day turned to night Dad sat down on the hard concrete floor,
holding his hand as tight as I could, he stuttered a few words I didn’t understand.
Surviving the cold, dreadful night was hard. I cried as my Dad closed his eye’s. People
gathered around each other to keep warm. Dad whispers in my ear “You can do this.”
Sobbing all night until I fall asleep, knowing my father won’t wake up.

I buried my father near a tree. Everyone came together to help me. I had no more tears left to cry. My mind had gone through a lot. People were telling me to leave the box and some told me to bring it. I decided to leave my luggage and keep the box because the box is very special to me and my dad. As we walked over mountains and across rivers the box became heavier and heavier and my hands were growing weak. I deiced to leave the box under a linden tree. Leaving the box behind a single tear came down my face as I walked away with the other citizens.

It has been years since the bombing. I have now grew a bit older I could take care of myself. One day on my one week off I decided to visit the old linden tree hoping I will find the the box. I took the train to the village I used to live in. It was very clean, colorful and filled with trees and buildings, but before I walk around I decided to get the box first. As I walk to the tree I see a little girl, playing around the tree. I walked up to her and said “Hi my name is Peter, a long time ago I buried treasure here. Would you like to help me dig it up?” She said “yes” and grabbed a shovel.

We found the treasure it didn’t take long. The little girl said she had to go which left me all alone. I decide to go back to my old library and return the book. The Library was legendary, full of a lot of old painting and interesting books. I felt sad to leave the book but I thought it would have been what father wanted. I walked out of the library smiling seeing people grab the book and reading it. I will come back one day I thought. Going back home wondering what might happen next.

What should we do now??

Diary Entry 1:
We Walked as far as we could and found an old abandoned
shed. We sat down father started to cough uncontrollably.
I was very terrified, I feared I will lose my father because
I already lost  my mothers. He whispered something in my ear
“ take care of them” he said. I started to cry, tears slowly
flowing down my face. I gripped my fathers hand. As
day turned to night. My eyes slowly closing, as I
fall asleep knowing my Father won’t wake up.

Diary Entry 2, The Burial Day:
Today is the day we burry my father it was
a very sad moment, I helped dig up the hole.
I took a moment to say goodbye to my dad,
trying hard not to cry. I felt depressed. I
have nothing left, except for the box my father
gave me. They started covering my father with
the dirt. Deep inside I was Happy because he was in
a special place.

What happens next....

The smell of burnt books as my lungs try to beat it.
Hearing my people cry as they are shoot dead
Looking at their faces as they cry with sadness.
Disappointing we didn’t fight back.

Everyone terrified thinking who could this be.
There are Gunshots firing as we try to dodge them. BOOM.
We are feeling trapped as this rascal chases away children and families.
Parents packing their stuff as they hurry to leave the village,
]I feel scared wishing this was a dream.

As day turns to night we can’t find a place to stay. The hard concrete
hurting our bodies and making us cold. People are crying themselves to sleep.
It’s hard to describe what people are feeling right now. We have walked for miles
on bare feet. Then we smelt the smell of fresh bread. We knew we were near a
village , but cheered. We followed  them to the village, but it was empty know
one was there so we decided to stay there until someone comes back.
We were very suspicious, we were wondering where the smell of bread
came from, fresh bread.

It is now night. People decided to sleep in the beds that were there.
But some didn’t trust. As the moon faded away and the sun rose,
The smell of bread came back. That was when we knew we were in
the wrong village. We searched the village just in case we missed something,
we heard footsteps coming from behind. We walked faster, and faster and the
footsteps came closer and closer. We stopped and realized that it was just me.

We walked past rivers, trees and beaches, and still couldn't find a village,
As the sun was going down we had no hope…… But we finally saw something
smoke and we heard music and laughter. A VILLAGE! We all ran to the village
happily. They were very welcoming and happy that asked us to stay because
some of their people died and it gets very lonely sometimes. We all danced
and sang.

Our Special Sacred Place!

During the holidays St Patrick's School made a Special Sacred Place were we could pray and and reflect on our life. There are three symbols held in the Sacred Place which are a symbol of life unfolding, our school logo and The Sister of our Lady of the mission (RNDM).  This place is special because it is a place where you are free to tell God what have done and a place where you can pray about your family and friends.

Manaiakalani Learner Questionnaire!😎

This afternoon I was able to fill out a Manaiakalani Learner Questionnaire.

We answered a various amount of questions, some of the question were hard and some were easy. The question I found difficult was the Culture question (What culture do you most identify with). I enjoyed this questionnaire because it was very interesting and fun.

Don't Give away personal information!

Have you ever been Sailing?

On May 1st my classmates and I went sailing at Okahu Bay.

We came to school in warm clothes because it was a very cold morning. When almost
everyone was here we had prayer and lined up to go on the bus, I ran so that I could get
to the back of the bus. We drove past lots of houses and shops, we also drove past a
farm where we saw horses eating grass. After driving past all these places we finally
reached our destination. We were all nervous at the beginning, but we took a deep
breath and started walking to our instructor, Steve, Justin and J.R.

First we all put our bags away and we had to form a semi circle, we introduced
ourselves and had to tell them our favorite colour. Then everyone watched as they
taught us how to rig the Optimist (sailing boats).  After they gave us our instructions
we all went of to rig our own. My buddy and I went to set up a boat we made a few
mistakes but we finally made it .

After that, we had to line up shortest to tallest to get our wet suits, we also got a
buoancy vest. We all went out on the ocean, it was scary at first but I managed to
get used to it. We tried to follow all the other boats but we always went the wrong
direction. We managed to catch up then we saw the others and decided to swap partners.
It was funny at first but we kept moving around so the boat flipped. We got back on the
boats but I kept laughing and moving around so the boat flipped again.

Soon after all that, It was time for lunch, I ate a lot. My sister and my dad came.
She took pictures of the ocean and left me with her phone to take pictures with it,
I had to be careful with it.  Lunch was over and it was time to get back on the ocean.
It was time to be capsized, my buddy and I went to a spot no one was at, and
made ourselves fall out of the boat.

After that we all went back to shore and got changed into our clothes.
I had a lot of fun.

I’d like to thank the Lion foundation, Rotary, Volvo and Zhik for sponsoring the day.

This is the Weather Graph for March!

Today we collected all the data for the highest daily temperature in March and created a line graph in Google Sheets.

Ready for BlueTown?!💙

My Very Blue House!

My house is blue because it's my favorite colour. The C on my roof tops means Christ, meaning Christ is always with us. I named my house Blue Town because everything about my house is blue. I have an underground trampoline, one push of a button the trampoline comes out ( but only I know where the button is). I have a dog house underneath by house. To open my door you won't need a key but an eye scan. It is filled with the biggest security system ever that I created but some I bought. I have a Chilli bin for my drinks. I have a pink and purple roof tops on top of my roof because I have too much blue. I also have a bird house for birds. I like the colour blue so much that even the sun is blue.

All about myself!

Hello my name is Heneliena, I am a Year 8 student from Saint Patrick’s school. I am Tongan. My teacher is Mrs George. My favorite country is Spain, I think that country is very cool as there is a lot of interesting things to see. I have 9 siblings, 4 sisters and 5 brothers. My favorite sports are rugby, soccer and basketball. My favorite rapper is Eminem because his raps have great meaning behind them. I have been listening to his music since I was little because of my brothers. When I grow up I would like to be a teacher, working with children. I love animals but my favorite animals are lions because they are king of the jungles.

I am very good at using technology. I use technology everyday for my learning and I also for watching videos. I enjoy watching YouTube, eating, playing and sleeping because it’s my everyday life. I am challenging myself to be a good role model to the little kids so that they can be good role models in the future. This year my goal is to finish the year and go of to college and make new friends, meet new staff and learn new stuff. This year I am looking forward to graduating and finally going to a new school, area and classes.

To me, my Personal Achievement will be getting to the end to my primary school years. I managed to achieve this because of an old teacher, Mrs Dines, who helped me to know I could achieve and do anything I wanted.

On my blog you can see a lot of interesting stuff about my learning and about myself. So stay tuned because your year is going to get crazy.

Euphrasie Barbier was a very great women

Adele Euphrasie Barbier also known as Euphrasie Barbier was a NZ roman Catholic nun, educator and religious founder. Born in Caen, France on 4 January 1829, She worked in a laundry when she was 13 and unlocked her own laundry at home when she was 17.

She was a caring and loyal person, who helped people from around the world and she supported people. Euphrasier respected all people and was passionate and agreeable. Sadly she died in 1932.

We can use Euphasier Babier's qualities today by building a better community. Picking up rubbish even if its not yours and having more rubbish bins available so our communities can be cleaner. Fundraising to building shelters for the poor.  And finally, going to church to pray for all those who need help and support.
